Jack Foster

Jack, originally from Montana, has lived in Puerto Rico for about twenty years and Cabo Rojo for about ten years with Damaris, his love.  Jack earned a BA in Literature & Writing while minoring in Drama at the University of Montana Western.  While working at the university, Jack discovered his second love (after Damaris), mathematics--which Jack had the opportunity to study at UMWestern as well.  Jack and Damaris live entirely off-the-grid with their ever-evolving family of animals.

Jack, originario de Montana, ha vivido en Puerto Rico durante unos veinte años y en Cabo Rojo durante unos diez con Damaris, su pareja. Jack se licenció en Literatura y Escritura con una subespecialización en Teatro en la Universidad de Montana Western. Mientras trabajaba en la universidad, Jack descubrió su segunda pasión (después de Damaris): las matemáticas, que también tuvo la oportunidad de estudiar en UMWestern. Jack y Damaris viven completamente aislados de la red eléctrica con su creciente familia de animales.

Human expression is important to us -- and featuring the expression of others, particularly those that may not often be featured, has been an effort we have pursued with passion over the years. The purpose of this channel is to feature the artistic expression found in the fine arts, literature, music, drama, culture, and other related and overlapping categories. As we live in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, artists from southwestern Puerto Rico will be featured frequently, but our hope is to feature perspectives from a broader geographic region. We will attempt to feature an eclectic group of artists and work representing multiple generations, ethnicities, languages, genders, etc. We will also include our endeavors into the arts. Damaris is a professional artist, and she will feature her work here. We look forward to listening to and growing in understanding with you all.

This channel is designed to be an approachable, systematic exploration of mathematics "for everyone." We will begin our exploration, in a manner (we hope), such that no mathematical prerequisite knowledge is required. While the content and structure could be of supplemental use for someone enrolled in a formal math course, it is primarily intended for the lifelong learner--the person who has interest or curiosity but lacks the time or resources to formally explore the subject. Whether you are brand new to the subject, enrolled in a formal course, just curious, or perhaps, it's been sometime (maybe a long time) since you have explored mathematics, I hope this channel can be of some benefit. I believe that mathematical reasoning offers an incredibly important and powerful (in a good way) perspective on reality, critical evaluation, and understanding; this channel is my small attempt to contribute to its accessibility. My hope is that mathematics captivates you as it does me. -Jack
