About the Course
Welcome to Pre-Algebra, a foundational mathematics course designed to prepare students for the study of algebra and beyond. This course focuses on developing essential mathematical skills and concepts that are crucial for success in higher-level math courses.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Understand and apply basic arithmetic operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Recognize and use mathematical properties, including the distributive property and associative property.
Develop skills in solving linear equations and inequalities.
Explore ratios, proportions, and percentages in real-world contexts.
Interpret and represent data using graphs and charts.
Understand the concepts of integers and rational numbers.
Apply basic geometric concepts, including perimeter, area, and volume.
No prior algebra experience is required, but a basic understanding of arithmetic and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this course. Join us in Pre-Algebra to build a strong mathematical foundation that will support your academic journey in mathematics and related fields!

Your Instructor
Jack Foster
Jack, originally from Montana, has lived in Puerto Rico for about twenty years and Cabo Rojo for about ten years with Damaris, his love. Jack earned a BA in Literature & Writing while minoring in Drama at the University of Montana Western. While working at the university, Jack discovered his second love (after Damaris), mathematics--which Jack had the opportunity to study at UMWestern as well. Jack and Damaris live entirely off-the-grid with their ever-evolving family of animals.
